Case 4

Arnold Herber

Green Bay Ace -- Three-time passing champion

Arnold Herber   (1910-1969)
Nickname:  Arnie

Early in the 1930's Arnie changed the way quarterbacks played and transformed pro football from an infantry-attack type of game to a pass-punctuated crowd-pleasing spectable.

In the first year the National Football League started tracking statistics, Herber was the top passer in the league with 639 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Arnie left the active football scene in 1945 with the reputation of being football’s greatest-ever long-distance passer.
