Cook's first PGA win was in 1981 in a playoff at the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am tournament. His wins continued and he has racked up first place at 11 tournaments on the PGA tour and 10 tournaments on the Champions Tour.
He got a scholarship to Ohio State University and won the US Amateur at the age of 20. He played on the OSU 1979 Championship team in 1979 and turned pro that year. His very successful golf career is combined with a strong committment to helping young players through The First Tee.
John's mother and aunt grew up in the Shenango Valley and Cook has made many visits to support the local golf programs. He remembers visiting here as a kid and playing daily on the Buhl Farm FREE Golf Course. Who knows, maybe it helped shape his game :-)
