Bobby Allison

Hall of Fame Nascar Driver

Allison formed The Alabama Gang consisting of his brother Donnie and some friends.  They had great success and he became a top star in short track racing.  In 1972 he was names driver of the year for winning 10 races and taking 11 poles.

 

His son Davey also raced and they became the first duo to win first and second place in the 1988 Daytona 500 -- Allison beating his son by only one car length.  He had a serious crash in 1988 preventing any future races, but was still inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1993 and the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011, noting 84 Cup Series winning races.
