Kerri Strug is best known for being part of the U.S gymnastic team for the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. Kerri injuried her ankle during her performance on the vault, but kept on going because she knew the team could lose the gold medal if she did not.
Kerri scored a 9.712 on her final vault helping Team USA win the gold medal over Russia. Her coach Béla Károlyi had to carry her to the podium when the team received their medals. After the Olympics Kerri became a national sport hero for not giving up when she was hurt.
In 2000 she was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and the National Jewish Hall of Fame.
