In 2005, the Penguins received first pick in the NHL lottery and knew Crosby was the player for them. His rookie season, he finished sixth total in goals scored.  At 21 years, 10 months, and 5 days, Crosby became the youngest NHL captain to win a Stanley Cup championship since 1895


Noted for his on-ice vision, passing ability, work ethic, and complete overall game, Crosby has been considered one of the best players in the world today.  He holds numerous records and received many outstanding awards, representing the Pittsburgh Penguins and Canadian World and  Olympic Teams.
