Bill Mazeroski

Announcer called him "THE GLOVE"

William Stanley Mazerosk (1936 -   

Nickname: "MAZ"

Mazeroski, famed second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was noted for his defensive prowess and earned his first of eight Gold Glove Awards in 1958.  His career with the team was highlighted by winning two World Series in 1960 and 1971 and ten All Star appearances. 


Mazeroski was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001 and a statue of him was unveiled in 2010 outside of PNC Park.  In more recent years he can be seen in a few film cameo roles and at his golf tournament that raises money for sports' scholarships.
